Improving the Quality of Local Housing

We have built an excellent network of reputable and reliable landlords from whom we source the majority of our properties from - this is due to the excellent reputation we have built of contiunously paying rent/deposits on time and always leaving the property (if we were to hand it back at anytime) in a better condition than when we received it - as a result of this , we have many landlords asking to work with us. On certain occasions, where we have a need for a new property and our current pool of landlords do not have one available, we may go to a new landlord. Due to our standing and reputation we are able to influence landlords to ensure that they go above and beyond the basic legal standards of renting properties. Alongside this, YPF also invest in decorating and bringing the properties up to a very high standard. As a result of this, YPF are slowly improving the quality and standard of housing in the local area.

Supporting the Local Economy

We aim to support and give back to the local area and economy from which we operate. When furnishing/refurbishing/decorating properties, we consistenly try our best to:

 

  • Source materials and goods from local businesses (such as butchers, independent shops, etc.)

  • Use local services (such as transport providers

  • Use local contractors (such as tradesmen)

Supporting Local People into Employment

Our team members are employed from the local areas we operate in order to ensure we are creating local job opportunities and benefitting the local economy. Hiring our team members in the local areas also ensures our young people have access to local information that only someone living in the local community would be able to provide.

 

In addition to this, we facilitate upskilling of the local workforce through training programmes and funding relevant qualification courses. This provides a more skillful, competent and technically able workforce, and also serves to improve the overall social outlook of the local area. In certain areas, we are working with further education institutions to provide placements for students and full-time employment opportunities for graduates.

 

All of our team members are paid above the national living wage and we will continue to do so over the coming years. 

Supporting Local Charities

We place a big emphasis on supporting local charities within the areas in which we operate. Our support teams encourage young people to get involved in volunteering for suitable charities, and many of our young people have helped local organisations feed the homeless in the local areas around placements. This not only supports the local community and builds community cohesion, but it also helps our young people gain volunteering experience.

 

We have held fundraising campaigns for past Christmases for our young people - any money raised beyond the amount to help make Christmas special for our young people, will be donated to local charities, chosen by each local workforce. We have had many large organisations contribute to our fundraisers, such as Next, Morrisons, etc.

Promoting Environmental Sustainability

YPF strive to promote environmental sustainability - we acknowledge our responsibility in ensuring the planet and environment are looked after.

 

All of our properties are installed with recycling bins that also have lists printed on them with which items can be recycled. Our teams encourage young people to follow this recycling system. Our teams also set a good example to young people by reducing wastage (such as reusing bags for shopping and only buying amounts of food needed).

 

Our properties are cavity insulated to reduce heat loss whilst nearly all of our properties now have smart meters installed to help reduce carbon emissions. Simple measures (such as ensuring lights are off when not in use, heating is off when not needed, and ensuring all taps are closed) are implemented by our teams across all properties, who will also encourage young people to do the same.

This approach is extended to our head office where staff who have agreed to ride a bike to work have been provided with a company bike if they did not have their own.
