Our Ethos

At Young People First (YPF), we believe in providing a safe and positive environment for young people to call their home, which enables them to take the right steps towards independence. We understand that every young person is unique, therefore we provide bespoke packages for each young person, based on their needs, desires, goals and objectives.

We aim to ensure that each and every young person moves on and has a successful transition into society as a happy, confident and independent individual. Our key goal as an organisation is to support young people to become successful and independent adults when they leave our service.

We believe transparency and communication are key to achieving the best for a young person, therefore we work alongside young people, their families, social workers, YOT, CAMHS, police, social housing, and education/employment/training providers, amongst any other agencies that already are or that need to be involved in the life of the young person.

We value feedback and strive for a service that is dynamic and proactive, changing to fit the needs of our individual young people. Therefore, all young people are encouraged to express their views, wishes and feelings on all aspects of their placement.

We endeavour to build strong relationships with the local authorities in which we work with to ensure we are able to provide an outcome-focused, cost-effective and fit for purpose service for each individual local authorities needs.

The seven principles of responsibility introduced by The Children and Social Work Act 2017, The Children's Act 2004, The Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, and The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023, underpin all decisions, actions and work undertaken regarding young people at YPF.
